April 29,2011

One more day and I'm on the road. Got the trailer hooked up and checked out and got a new helmet. Bike's in good shape. Took a short ride today and checked out the GPS nav system and the use of via's. Worked pretty well so much more confidence in the system. Took some pictures (attached). Now it's take care of last minute stuff and pack.

Next thing you know, I'll be on the road. Weather is supposed to be good on Sunday. Always nice to start off with good weather.

April 17.. traveled to Arrington VA with a golfing buddy (he rides a Harley, UGH!!!) to pick up my new Calif. Sidecar trailer. As we were passing through Warrenton NC I saw a picture that is certainly descriptive of rural NC. This is the Inez Fire Department. One garage door for a small truck. Inside the front door there was a table with eight chairs. This is where the real America lives folks. I'm so happy to do all my riding on the back roads.

I'm three days from launching on my 6,000 mile trip which will take me to western NC, through Tn, WVa, Pa where I will stop in Punxsutawney to see Phil the groundhog. (I was born on ground hogs day) From there it's Niagara Falls and Niagara on the Lake then up to the Thousand Islands on the St. Lawrence. From there I'll pass through Saratoga Springs, Fort Ticonderoga, up to burlington and White River Junction VT, and then across NH to Sanford and Houlton Me and then around New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia Canada. Then it's back down to Bar Harbor and Kittery Me. and through Ma to Tiverton RI. After a visit there it's back to Webster Ma and alma mater and then Old Mystic, Old Saybrook and hopefully a meeting with so old college friends. Then I'll roam around Ct visiting Colebrook and Bethlehem and finally to home town Brookfield and Danbury to visit some high school friends. From there it's into NY state, NJ and Amish country in PA, then Gettysburg and a stop in Berleley Springs WVa for a short visit with my sister. From there it's Roanoke VA, Mt Airy NC and home to Wilson.

Other than about 100 miles, the whole trip in on back roads.

4/1/2011 Happy April Fools Day. Just for info, the tattoo you see on my arm was a little spoof played on my youngest, Samantha. It wore off after two weeks and is now a part of history but it made for a lot of laughs.
